Geek nomads - considering some time in Singapore?
I didn't manage to give my geek nomad session. As well as general discussion, it suggested a particular month for people to aim at if they wanted to dip their toes in the water and hang out in Singapore for a few days or weeks. The idea being that there would be a better than usual array of interesting folk around, some co-ordination to help people do it (housing etc.) and activities to take advantage of it (e.g. barcamp-like events).

Manar:
Back in London and slightly less on other things from later today, so plan was to pick it up then (a few days later than hoped!). Josh - if you ge this, let's speak tomorrow? I'll ping you. A call or two feels like a decent way to give the idea some oomph.
Josh Russell:
i did indeed see this :)
(i'm checking back here on a regular basis)
i've already started a few of my own docs/wiki pages about this, would it be useful to start a group somewhere?
i think we also need to make sure whatever we do ties in nicely with the strategy that neoteny has, we don't want to be too early/late if there is something being planned, or to step on any toes.
i'll email james chan, just in case he's not seen this here, and start that ball rolling.
Manar:
Just had a fab kick-off phone call with Josh. Conversations and ideas are flowing actively now. We'll be engaging with folk in Singapore of course to mesh properly. Plan is to gain feedback and confidence for an announcement to be made at the end of next week. Josh, I and maybe Imajes (James Cox) would at that point be committed.
Then it's a case of evangelising friends and folk, painting a fair and exciting picture. Some may want in on round one, some may prefer and wait for a round two when the scene in Singapore has had even more time to gel.

this presentation argue that writing or texting is a very generative way of expression, in both communicative and directive forms (as in speech acts.) and that could encourage more participation and creation from reader-turn-writer in the open web.

Video Recording
Can anyone loan us a digital video camera ala Flip or something of that equivalent so we can record the presentations/panels on Sat/Sun? Your kind assistance will be most appreciated!
Hugh Mason:
I'm bringing a cheapy Flip knock-off with me that does fine if you are close to the action but has no external audio input so James' gear with a wireless mic will be much better for the plenaries. James - if you are happy to record or stream the presentations I can certainly pick up other stuff going on, record some interviews and so on. Happy to cover your Mozilla talks too.
We could stream using www.bambuser.com if there's reasonable bandwidth available from the venue. It's free and then there's no faffing with uploading etc.
Florian:
bringing a reasonably good web cam (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/webcam_communications/webcams/devices/6333&cl=us,en with autofocus etc) for live streaming if you want me to, not sure the built-in microphone is good enough however so might need an external mic feed
