Hackerspaces: Fablab or think tank, incubator or idea farm?
Panel discussion about the growing global hackerspace movement. Why are they important, what benefit do they provide for the communities and are they really anything more than a bunch of nerds taking computers apart?
Sean Bonner (co-founder of Crash Space) is the moderator, with panelists:
1) Bre Petis, co-founder of NYC Resistor
2) Mitch Altman, co-founder of Noisebridge SF
3) Jens Ohlig, co-founder of CCC Köln
4) Meng Weng Wong, co-founder of Hackerspace.sg
I would love to visit your space, if it's up when I'm there! And, if people are into it, I could do a workshop (teaching people to make cool things, and teaching people to solder), to help generate interest and excitement for the hackerspace (whether it is up by then, or not). I'd guess Bre would be into helping generate excitement in his way, too.
This one will be great. There are multiple spaces in Asia forming....
I'm way excited to talk to people about hackerspaces starting in Asia. :)

with any luck, by the time NSC1 happens, hackerspace.sg will be up and running at a physical location in Kampong Glam near Bugis MRT.
